the best

today was the best kind of summer day.
morning chores, kayaking, my sweet Aunt Janice's vanilla ice cream, playing with pals, watching movies.
what perfect days we have on our daddy's day off.

this moment

Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

pomp and parade

As John Adams wrote to his beloved Abigail...
I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.
The Bonin family will celebrate by watching the John Adams mini series, reading David McCullough, making ice cream & eating watermelon, and loving each other.
Happy Independence Day.
